La Maroma - Summit 2069 mtrs

La Maroma is a very distinctive mountain and lies NW of Frigiliana. It’s one of those mountains you feel you must walk! There are several ways to ascend La Maroma and the route we follow will depend on the time of the year and the weather. The summit is flat and the views are spectacular so it’s important to choose a clear day. From December to February it will have a hat of snow, making it look even more amazing. La Maroma is home to many Ibex, and although these are wild animals, it’s the only place where I have found they don’t run away in the opposite direction as soon as they see you!

Tajo Almendron & La Puerta

This a spectacular walk with stunning views. The walk starts above El Pinarillo, 5 ks from the village of Maro along a driveable track. We enter the Barranco de los Cazadores (Hunter’s ravine) to start our walk. After several kilometers, we head NE gaining height quickly, whilst zig-zagging towards Collado Nido del Buitre (Vultures Nest Pass).
Turning west we walk towards La Puerta, a sail like rock, while passing below Tajo Almendron which has a summit of 1513 mtrs. Having passed La Puerta, we stop to enjoy the most wonderful and spectacular views to the North. Continuing West and then south west, we head back towards El Pinarillo.

Alto De Cielo - Summit 1508mtrs
This walk offers the most fantastic views from the summit. Cielo stands tall, spectacular and impressive over Nerja. Admired by locals and holiday makers alike, but not walked by many! If walked as a circuit, we start at the Barranco de la Higuera with a steep steady climb zig-zagging to the summit. We return via the Cortijo de la Civila.
