The Waterfall
We journey east heading towards the old Granada to Almunecar road where we park at a height of 1000mtrs. We start this spectacular walk
almost immediately by contouring the northern side of the Cerro Martos at a height of 1000 mtrs before descending to marvel at the different waterfalls and a wonderful hidden cave. We return passing a small lake via a track back to our transportation. A great opportunity on this walk to see some Ibex!

Examples

Frigiliana – El Pinarillo - Maro

A great walk which starts from Frigiliana. Only 300 mtrs from the accommodation and we will be descending to the Rio Higueron. We follow the river for a short distance before starting our ascent to higher ground on the east side of the river. While ascending you will be able to marvel at and savour the wonderful scenery. Every step seems to open up another wonderful view. Having arrived at approx. 400+ mtrs above the Rio, we head east over undulating ground at a height of around 500 mtrs for several kilometers, before dropping down to the Rio Chillar.
Having had fun crossing the river we will then stop for lunch. A wonderful place to relax, chat and listen to the river. After a relaxing lunch, we start to ascend to a track at 550 mtrs above the river which will take us towards El Pinarillo (The Little Pine). Here we can stop and decide whether to head towards Maro village along a 5km track or follow a ridge line towards Nerja.

Maro / Molinero Ridge
A ten minute drive brings us to the small pretty village of Maro. From here we head north up the Barranco de Sanguino before climbing up to the Cortijos Almachar approx 550 mtrs where we will take a break to enjoy the views. We continue our walk and cross the track that heads east towards the mountain of El Cielo (sky) sitting at 1508 mtrs which can be seen to the right of the photograph. Before long we are walking along the Molinero ridge which again is also in the photograph (nearest ridge on the right). This offers superb all round views and we are usually fortunate enough to spot some Ibex on the ridge. Finally we descend into the Barranco de los Cazadores (Hunter's ravine) where we meet our transport.
